privacy policy

last updated 15 June 2026

trench 9 is a one-person music project. this page explains the small amount of data this site handles and why. no surprises, no selling anything on.

for anything data-related, like questions, access requests, or having your data deleted, email trench9music@gmail.com. that inbox is the data controller for this site.

the email list

if you hand over your email address, it goes to Kit (formerly ConvertKit), the service that stores the mailing list and sends the occasional update about new music. that's the only thing your email is used for. you can unsubscribe from any email and it's removed. Kit's own handling of the data is covered by their privacy policy.

the lawful basis for this is your consent. you gave your email to join, and you can withdraw it any time by unsubscribing or emailing the address above. emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask for removal; there's no fixed retention beyond that. Kit is a US-based company, so your email is processed outside the UK under their standard data-transfer terms.

basic analytics

to understand how people find the site, it records lightweight, minimal visit events. each event may include:

  • which page was viewed and which link was tapped
  • the site you arrived from (referrer) and a rough source tag (e.g. instagram)
  • your country and whether you're on mobile or desktop
  • a random session id that lets one visit's events be grouped together

this does not include your name, your exact location, or anything that identifies you personally. there's no advertising tracking and the data isn't shared with third parties. it's only used to see what's working, in aggregate. the lawful basis is legitimate interest, meaning understanding how a tiny independent project is being found, and the data is kept only as long as it's useful for that.

third-party embeds

the page links out to platforms like Spotify, YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. once you follow a link to one of those, you're on their turf and their own privacy policies apply.

your rights

handing over your email is entirely optional. nothing on the site needs it, and not giving it just means you won't get the occasional update.

under UK GDPR you have the right to ask for a copy of any data held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to pause how it's used, to object to it being processed, and to have it transferred. to use any of these, email trench9music@gmail.com and it'll get sorted.

and if you think i've mishandled your data, the UK's data regulator (the ICO, ico.org.uk) is who you'd raise that with.
